(PLO) – Many unique solutions and products such as chess-playing robots, AI technology, smart lighting… were demonstrated at the Asia Smart Urban International Forum and Exhibition, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the morning of April 17, the 3rd Asian Smart City Forum and Exhibition – SMARTCITY ASIA 2024, officially took place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center – SECC.
The exhibition will perform from April 17 to April 19, with the participation of more than 500 businesses from many countries with many main topics such as technology and application solutions in smart cities.

The speaker at the opening ceremony, Mr. Pham Duc Long, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications (TT-TT) recognized the forum as a prestigious event in the region to discuss smart city development issue.
Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long said that over the years, the Government has introduced many policy accounts to develop sustainable smart cities. It emphasizes information technology infrastructure, forming a shared digital platform for cities and urban areas, promoting digital transformation in urban management, building digital government…
“I recommend that local leaders decide to direct the work of connecting and sharing data to form a shared data warehouse at the provincial level. Fully gather data from industries, fields, governments at all levels, data must be regularly entered, ensuring correct, complete, clean, live…” – Mr. Long said.
Regarding this content, the Ministry of Information and Communications is currently developing a draft of the government’s Decree on shared databases, and will submit it to the government in May. Ministry of Information and Communications is coordinating with the Ministry of Construction to promulgate a set of sustainable smart city criteria for Vietnam.
“The Ministry of Information and Communications is committed to accompanying and supporting localities in the process of developing digital transformation and applying IT in smart cities to develop in-depth reporting and bring practical equipment efficiency, sustainable” – Mr. Long concluded.
Following Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long’s words, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said: As the economic, financial and industrial locomotive of the country, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to develop industrial key point.

“Ho Chi Minh City sets a goal that by 2025, the digital economy will contribute about 25% and by 20230, 40% of the city’s GRDP. Ho Chi Minh City’s targets are 5-10% higher than the national average” – Mr. Duong Anh Duc said.
From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thong, Chairman and General Director of Cara Lighting, acknowledged that Vietnamese people are increasingly aware of environmental protection, through the use of smart, eco-friendly products. environmentally friendly. However, the technical approach is not high enough, the market is still disturbed by poor quality products. Through the forum, he and other businesses expect to reach people, businesses, and partners in providing smart, quality, and environmentally friendly solutions and products.
Also in the suffering program, many in-depth discussion topics were presented such as: Smart city strategy with Green and Sustainable development orientation; Technology solutions for smart life; AIoT applications in smart cities oriented towards green development.
