Smart City Asia 2024 Forum and Exhibition April 17, 2024. Ministry of Information and Communications supports, Exporum Vietnam Company in combination with the Vietnam Automation Association (VAA), Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA), City Informatics Association Ho Chi Minh City (HCA), Vietnam Institute of Digital Transformation and Innovation (VIDTI) co-organized. Smart City Asia 2024 is an opportunity for state management agencies, localities, experts, and the business community to exchange and discuss issues and solutions in smart urban development and sustainable Development. At the same time, Smart City Asia 2024 also opens up opportunities for cooperation between Vietnamese localities and domestic and international businesses on urban development, smart cities, and green and friendly development of the environment.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long emphasized: “Smart urban development is an inevitable trend of urban areas, cities and smart urban development in Vietnam is no longer a new problem. Account holder, Vietnam’s sustainable smart urban development policy has been issued since August 2018 in Decision No. 950/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister’s Office. Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo once again affirms the determination to develop sustainable smart cities in Vietnam, which emphasizes the restructuring of Information Technology & Communications infrastructure, forming some common foundations for urban areas and urban areas; Accelerating digital transformation in urban management, building e-government, moving towards digital government in urban areas. Closely linked with smart urban development”.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc said: “As the economic, financial, and industrial locomotive of the country, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to develop important industries. In particular, continue to develop investment in technology education gardens, high-tech parks, and Quang Trung software park. Therefore, Smart City Asia 2024 will advise on solutions for building and developing smart urban areas for Ho Chi Minh City and cities across the country, solving traffic management problems, urban, orderly”.

Dr. Nguyen Quan – Chairman of the Vietnam Automation Association (VAA) shared information at the Conference: “Infrastructure and digital platform for smart urban development, oriented for green and sustainable development”.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology shared information at the Plenary Forum: “Vietnam smart city strategy with green and sustainable development orientation”.

Dr. Nguyen Quan – Chairman of the Vietnam Automation Association (VAA) shared: “Smart urban development is building a modern and effective method of urban development and operation based on the application of smart technologies. Innovative and creative technology. Along with that is implementing digital transformation within the scope and scale of the urban area but focusing on solving major urban problems from traffic, environment, energy, waste treatment, and ensuring safety, urban security, and order. Therefore, smart factors must be identified, calculated, and included right from the planning of urban and city development.”

At Smart City Asia 2024, trade promotion activities and trade meetings will be conducted in parallel between online forms and meetings with city leaders, visiting the city’s new smart urban areas city. At the same time, within the framework of Smart Cities Asia 2024, a forum will take place with main topics such as Smart urban strategy with green and sustainable development orientation; technology solutions for smart life; Application of AIoT in smart cities oriented towards green development.

From many approaches, based on available infrastructure as well as the characteristics of each urban area in Vietnam, experts believe that there is a need for a roadmap for amortization and sustainable urban development, high resilience, combining management and administration with building data infrastructure for effective connection and exploitation.
